Today’s app is the Telegraph App available free of charge from the Android Market

There’s currently an uproar from the printed press about the BBC’s plans to launch a free app which will provide news feeds to users, but the functionality is already available, free of charge through the fantastic Telegraph App.

Delivering all the top news from the Telegraph.co.uk website, over either Wifi or Mobile data, straight to your Android Mobile Phone (eg the HTC Desire, Google G1 etc) , this fantastic app becomes a virtual newspaper and is the only tool you will ever need to keep you in the loop.

You will certainly never need to buy a news paper again.

The video below shows the Telegraph application in action.

The handset runs the ever improving Android Operating System and features an incredible 3.7-inch AMOLED display, so images, videos and web pages will look crisp and vibrant.

The Android operating system has always been incredibly user friendly and easy to use, although it can sometimes be a little sluggish on early handsets, but the Desire features a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, like that found in the Google Nexus One, so there is plenty of processing power available to allow fast multi-tasking of applications.

Android is designed to allow the use of Widgets, of which there are now many, which deliver information straight to your phones desktop, so you will never be without those sports results or weather updates again.

The Android Operating System is designed to be integrated with the Internet, in practice this proves to be a great asset and turns Android phones into true multi-purpose communication devices, emails, Facebook updates, tweets and the like can be sent straight to the handset in real time, so that you are never out of the loop with friends or work.

The integrated 5 megapixel camera in the Desire in significantly improved over early Android models and features, Face detection, Auto focus and flash, Widescreen photo capture and Geotagging.

As standard the HTC Desire HTC Desire will feature Skype, Windows Live Messenger, Email on 3 and Twitter alongside an integrated Facebook application.

The HTC Desire is an incredibly desirable handset so keep an eye on the 3 Website for a formal release date

The video below shows the HTC Desire in action.

The application, which will rival the functionality of traditional sat nav devices, eg TomTom and Garmin, will be included free of charge with version 2.0 of Google’s Android Operating System and will also include speech control.

Google’s web site outlines the following features:

# Search in plain English. No need to know the address. You can type a business name or even a kind of a business, just like you would on Google.

# Search by voice. Speak your destination instead of typing (English only): “Navigate to the de Young Museum in San Francisco”.
# Traffic view. An on-screen indicator glows green, yellow, or red based on the current traffic conditions along your route. A single touch toggles a traffic view which shows the traffic ahead of you.
# Search along route. Search for any kind of business along your route, or turn on popular layers such as gas stations, restaurants, or parking.
# Satellite view . View your route overlaid on 3D satellite views with Google’s high-resolution aerial imagery.
# Street View. Visualize turns overlaid on Google’s Street View imagery. Navigation automatically switches to Street View as you approach your destination.
