Google’s Tablet OS

Not one to let Apple hog the lime light for to long, Google have released a concept video showing how their Chrome OS could be adapted for Tablet PC’s.

The video (shown below) shows a multi tasking, multi touch interface with an emphasis but on windows rather then a traditional PC desktop.

It’s important to remember that at the moment that the Google Tablet is just a concept rather then a real physical unit, but the device looks to work in a significantly different way to the iPad.

Let the arguments and discussion begin.

Apple Announce the iPad

Today at 6pm Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the latest Apple device the iPad.

Weighing in at 1.5 pounds and coming with a 10 hour battery life, the iPad is a tablet PC with a 9.7-inch touch screen running at a resolution of 1024×768.

The iPad runs with a similar interface to the iPhone so it should be easy to pick up and use out of the box.

The iPad includes iTunes integration and as standard will run iPhone apps, in either normal size or large size by doubling the pixel size. Dedicated apps will also be included.

The iPad lends it’s self nicely to Ebooks and Apple have announced the iBookstore, where users can download novels onto the iPad, and reading the text looks to be easy, and prices apparently start at $12.99.

The device can flip between Landscape and Portrait and looks to handle web browsing extremely well thanks to it’s crystal clear screen and custom 1GHz “Apple A4″ processor.

The device looks great and looks like fantastic addition to the Apple hardware range.
